And our little girl weighed in at 24 1/2 pounds (in the 1 percentile!) and was just over 36 inches tall (in the 30th percentile). But all in all checked out with an excellent bill of health and development. And thankfully she didn't have to get any shots!
On Tuesday, Corynn and I went to the dentist - her first visit ever. And she was a champ! She sat nicely and quietly while I had my teeth cleaned, then without hesitation climbed into the chair (although she requested to sit on my lap) and cooperated with the hygienist the entire visit - opening her mouth and turning her head upon every request. She was very excited about getting a new pink toothbrush and a Hot Wheels car upon completion!
On Wednesday our friend Jeremy from Iowa was in the area for work, so he spent the evening and night with us before returning home the next morning. It was fun catching up and seeing him again!
On Friday, we had more company for night in the form of Kevin's cousin Russell, his wife Camille, and their 6 week old daughter Hannah! It was great to get to spend the evening and morning with them and have the opportunity to meet and hold Hannah for the first time.

Saturday was Christmas Eve. For me that meant shopping with my brothers in the morning, wrapping the presents, and then getting together with the Peters' family for Christmas in the afternoon. With two little granddaughters now, we thought an afternoon celebration might work out better than one that started after 8pm after the church programs.
So we started out with grandpa reading the Christmas story
Then it was time for presents...
Corynn's favorites were a cash register complete with scanner, conveyor belt, groceries and money, credit card swiper, and actual calculator; and a Dirt Devil vacuum (which she's trying out with Papa and his new push broom)
After a fun afternoon filled with laughter and gifts, we ate a quick, light supper, changed clothes, took our annual family photos, and headed off to our respective churches for the Christmas Eve services.

At the Christmas Eve service, Corynn was part of the program with her 2-3 year old Sunday school class. She would recite the poem and sing the song non-stop at home, but during rehearsals on Sunday mornings, she just stood and watched the other kids. We didn't expect much from her when it was time for the actual performance.
We were so proud (and amazed) when we actually saw her say the first few words of the poem, then I think she realized where she was and that A LOT of people were watching her, so she stopped.
"A baby, a baby! We're waiting for a baby. A baby, a baby! Jesus is the baby!"
Then her class and the preschool/kindergarten class sang "Jingle Jingle Happy Bells" together, and once again we saw her lips move several times and she rang her bells!!
What a difference a year makes!
After church our evening seemed far from over. Every Christmas Eve the Funk family celebrates all the December birthdays together after the church program. Since we had our Peters' Christmas earlier in the day, we were able to attend the birthday party this year, which is good since Corynn has a December birthday and gets spoiled again!
We had some delicious cheese cake and snacks, Corynn got lots of great gifts, we had a fun time with family, and when it was time to go, Corynn got in her pajamas and willingly headed out the door!

After a quick night of sleep, Christmas Day had arrived! Once we were all awake, we ate breakfast, opened up a few presents, got ready and headed for church.

After church it was time for some more Christmas fun! We headed to great-grandma Nickel's house for the annual Christmas breakfast/lunch - delicious, opened a few presents, played and chatted, took some pictures, and then headed across town to grandpa and grandma Nickel's house for a relaxing afternoon.

After Kevin woke up from his afternoon nap, Corynn decided she probably should have slept too, but now it was time for more presents!

It was a busy, but wonderful Christmas weekend with family, friends, church, delicious food, and all the joys of Christmas!!
