Diaper Free & Fireworks!

Success! That's how I felt by the end of this week. No potty accidents, almost no false alarms, and one big girl running around our house (usually without any clothes on)! I was so proud of Corynn and couldn't believe how quickly the process went! The cloth diapers are packed away, the diaper pail and bag are gone, and Corynn's changing table has taken on a new look too...

Where there once was a changing pad, now there are cuddly animals and a basket of hair accessories!

We've been putting stickers on a calendar for several months now tracking Corynn's potty/poopy progress. It was a fun way for her to celebrate her successes and a way for me to see if we were making any headways. Look at what her June calendar looked like by the end of the month:

The bigger stickers represent poops in the potty and the smaller (usually flower) stickers represent pottying in the toilet. Potty training started on the 13th and as you can see, things went very well after that first week! By the end of the month we had run out of her usual potty stickers and were using anything we could find, as she requests to put on stickers every time now.

In other news, Saturday evening we finally got out Corynn's swimming pool from last year. Kevin had to patch a few holes, but for the most part it still works. Just an hour or so after the tornado sirens in Hesston went off, Corynn hopped into the pool to cool off.

All the sandbox toys had to join her in the pool

Her new thing this evening was "jumping" into the pool. But she had to get a big running start to do it. Here's a clip of that silliness:

Sunday evening we celebrated the 4th of July holiday with the Nickel family at Pam and Brent's house. Despite the afternoon thunder, lightening, and grey clouds in the sky, Corynn insisted on putting on her swimsuit (since the original plan was to swim at 4pm). Instead the ladies got ready for supper on the grill and the boys shot off a few fireworks.

Corynn still wasn't a big fan of the fireworks this year, but she kept her "ear muffs" on while she was outside which helped.

Finally after supper, around 7:45pm, the sun was back out and the storms had passed, so it was safe to get into the pool - which Corynn had been begging to do all evening.

Corynn had fun playing in the pool with Uncle Kenton, daddy, and grandma (not pictured)

After swimming there was still lots of time for more fireworks.

Sam was really into them this year, and even enjoyed a couple sparklers

The rest of us watched the excitement from the safety of the porch

As the fireworks fun was winding down, I came inside only to realize that it was 9:45pm and somehow Corynn was still awake even without taking her usual afternoon nap. Needless to say she was very tired and probably could have fallen asleep reading books with grandma, but she waited till we got in the car. She was so wiped out that even when I got her out of the car at home, she didn't flinch, so I just tucked her in bed for the night. She was pretty confused in the morning when she discovered she was still in her clothes from the night before.
