Stephan - One Week Old

The first week of Stephan's life was full of visitors, sleepless nights, and wonderful memories!
Sleeping baby in the hospital - Thursday morning
Our first night with Stephan was a little rough, but to be expected. We both took shifts letting him sleep on us since he wasn't a fan of sleeping in his hospital "crib," so we didn't get a lot of restful sleep.
Thursday morning our pediatrician stopped in around 7:30 to check on Stephan and do a couple of procedures. Stephan passed his hearing screening and biliruben check and my doctor released me as well. After a few more visitors stopped by and a photographer, we were packed up and heading to our car by 1:30pm - a very quick stay in the hospital in my opinion.
Stephan weighed 7 lbs 4.6 oz upon our dismissal.

(how Stephan got a sunburn already, I'm not sure!)
Around 5pm Thursday evening, grandma and papa Peters arrived at our house with Corynn and supper. We enjoyed the evening with them, Corynn read Stephan two of her favorite books before bedtime (that she has memorized), and we once again took shifts throughout the night sitting and sleeping with Stephan.

Already we have learned a few things about our new little guy:
- he prefers to be snuggled and swaddled, even though it's been 100+ degrees outside (and not all that cool inside our house)
- he loves tummy time, but often just falls alseep in that position. Already on Friday he turned his head from one side to the other while on his tummy.
- he sucks on his fingers constantly and prefers that to a pacifier
- he does NOT enjoy his diaper changes
- prefers to sleep all day and entertain us at night :)

Here are a few more random photos from our first week with our little guy.
We went on our first walk as a family Friday evening before supper. Corynn and daddy ran ahead, while Stephan and I took it slow. Despite all the bumps in the road and the hot weather, Stephan slept right through the whole experience.
Stephan got his first bike ride with daddy on Saturday.
Stephan also got his first bath at home Saturday evening and didn't like it one bit! That is until he was snuggled in the towel with mommy!

On Monday I took Stephan in to see the lactation consultant just to make sure he was gaining some weight, even though I knew he was a very good eater already! My mom came over and stayed with Corynn, but before Stephan and I left, Corynn gave him a hug and kiss and said good bye to us both.
Too cute!
Stephan weighed in at 7 pounds 5.3 ounces at our appointment and ate well. In Roberta's words, he had a "monster feeding" taking in over 2 ounces! No worries about this kiddos weight-gain yet!

Later that day we had to see who was bigger, baby Todd or Stephan. As you can see, it was a close competition.
A very proud big sister!
Bath #2 on Tuesday was much more pleasant
