What's New?

After a week being spoiled by beautiful weather, this week brought rain and more rain! It was needed though, and since we got to spend so much time outside last week, it wasn't so bad staying indoors this week. But since there wasn't much to do, there weren't many pictures taken... till the sun returned on Sunday and Corynn actually wanted to pose for some pictures in her matching Sunday dress and hat. So among the cute, sunny, smiley photos, I'll recap a few of the things Corynn has been up to lately!

After a year (it seems) of not taking a nap, Corynn is finally getting back into the routine of taking an afternoon nap. Now when I ask her "Where do you want to take your nap today?" Instead of hearing "NO NAP!" she usually calmly chooses either her room or in the basement! Some days work better than others, but usually she rests 3 or 4 days a week now for 1 1/2-3 hours! That makes better days for everyone around here!

One of her favorite things to play these days is 'grocery store.' Corynn gets out all her pretend food, puts it around the living room in sections - like frozen foods, fruits & veggies, breads, cans, etc. (just like Dillons, she says) - and then either wants me (or grandma) to shop for the food or be the cashier and check out her food once she has gathered it back up. This routine can go on and on many times in a morning and she loves every minute of it.

Her other favorite thing is playing with her dolls (of course). Everything is baby these days. Baby Todd seems to have constant "poopy diapers" so we are endlessly changing his clothes and diapers (which are either a few disposable pull-ups we had laying around or a random blanket, burp rag, or piece of doll clothing). She is so dramatic - in a silly way - when she announces that Todd has another dirty diaper! But she is always very excited to change him. I hope I can train her to change her little brother or sister's diaper with the same enthusiasm!

We've been going to Story Time at the Western District Conference Library in North Newton on Wednesday mornings since February and Corynn really enjoys it! Every week she looks forward to checking out books, seeing the other boys and girls, and hearing stories about the new "letter of the week." And finally she's started telling me a little about what they talk and sing about during those 40 minutes.

Speaking of stories, Corynn LOVES to tell stories and consistently starts them with a phrase like "One time I went to Todd's house and..." She makes up tall tales about playing on Todd's playground and with his toys, and tells me about when Todd scraped his knee (if Corynn actually did) or what foods he likes to eat. Anything somewhat related to her becomes an extended story about Todd. He might as well be her make-believe friend the way she talks about him. Most times the stories go on and on (especially at meal time) and we have to ask Corynn to stop talking and eat, so our meal doesn't take 2 hours!

Can you say "CHEESE!" At least Corynn is in a stage where she will willingly smile for a photo when asked!! Love it, even if it gets a little cheesy some times!

And not that you asked, but here is a recap (with the addition of this month's photo) of my 2012 pregnancy progress:

January, February, and March 21, 2012 - 5 months and counting - growing little by little
