Story Hour, Playdate and Candy Land

I failed to take a lot of pictures once again this week - February 6-12, but here are a few of the things that kept us busy.

On Tuesday we stayed inside and watched it snow most of the day! What a treat, even though it didn't amount to much and was gone within a matter of days.

On Wednesday Corynn went to her first story hour at the Western District Conference Resource Library in North Newton. She clung to me the whole time and didn't want to participate or talk, but afterwards had lots to tell me about the stories they read, so I know she was listening. We also checked out a handful of new books, so have been busy reading (and rereading) those stories!

Friday morning we invited our neighbors over to our house for a play date, since we hadn't really gotten together with them since before Christmas. We had a great time catching up with each other and the kids played really well together as they moved from one toy and room to the other.

A few silly photos of Corynn from the week:

Didn't matter that snow was forecasted, it was still swimsuit weather inside

On Saturday Corynn and I went with my mom to Wichita for several hours of shopping. Corynn did ok until lunch when she refused to put on her coat, sit in her car seat, and cooperate, but thankfully she allowed us to get a little shopping and looking done at Kohl's after that, thanks to a lot of entertainment from the toy section there!

We decided it was time to go to church with papa and grandma Peters' for a change, since we weren't able to get to Alexanderwohl Church during the holidays like we sometimes do. So on Sunday we went to "the big white church" as Corynn calls it, for Sunday School and the worship service. Corynn attended the 2/3-year-old Sunday school class there, with 2 other little girls, but I of course had to stay as well since it was a new environment for her. I think she had a fun time even though, once again, she didn't say a word and didn't want to participate in too many of the activities, unless I made her. We enjoyed the worship service as well and seeing a lot of friends we hadn't seen in quite a while!

After church we had a delicious lunch at my parent's house with uncle Kent, and then enjoyed a relaxing afternoon there as well (except for a certain 3 year old who refused to take a nap).

Grandma bought the game Candy Land on our shopping trip the day before, so Corynn was very excited to play it on Sunday after lunch. Thankfully papa was willing to play with her. I am so impressed with how fast she catches on to the rules and object of games these days. When I came and watched, she knew just when to draw a card and exactly what it meant she needed to do. Of course she was very particular about how her discarded cards were organized, as you can see them laying in piles by color next to her :)

Grandma and I came to join in for game number two - after Corynn won the 1st game fair and square - but Corynn's attention span for the 2nd game only lasted a couple of rounds before she started packing up all the cards and pieces. There are just too many things to do at grandma and papa's house to just sit and play a board game all day.

In the afternoon we made a quick stop by great-grandma Nickel's house to pick up a Valentine package for Corynn and then headed over to papa and grandma Nickel's house for a supper of leftover Christmas breakfast breads and fixings with the whole Nickel family. An extra treat for me since, once again, I didn't feel like eating all that much back in December when the original breakfast occurred!
