Once again we were on a train, and having fun
It was a cold, breezy day in Santa Fe, so after walking to the Plaza and around for a bit, Corynn was ready to go inside to warm up. She picked a nice furniture/accessory store filled with Christmas cheer.
Corynn liked the stuffed penguins, but they cost over $100, so we just took a picture of them instead
Once we'd warmed up a bit, it was back out to the cold to tour the city. One of our first stops was the Loretto Chapel.
The spiral staircase in this chapel is referred to as the "miracle staircase" for numerous reasons. And it was quite the sight.

Then we headed for Canyon Road - 2 miles of nothing but art galleries

On our way back to the train station we walked through the New Mexico State Capital building. And Corynn did a little training in the rotunda.
We noticed an REI store across from the depot, so we wasted a few minutes looking around while we waited for the train to depart.

After a train ride back to Albuquerque, we ate supper, headed to the hotel and thus ended day 3 of our vacation.
Kevin woke up early on Wednesday morning, took a couple buses and shuttles, and picked up a rental car for us at the airport. There was a handful of attractions that were just outside the reach of the city bus system (or just would have taken too long) so we decided to get a car for a day and see all of those sites in one day.
Our first stop was the Petroglyph Monument. It was an area just out of the city limits of Albuquerque that was covered with rock carvings called petroglyphs. There was a series of several trails we hiked where we could see numerous (supposedly hundreds) petroglyphs.
No one knows exactly what the carvings mean, but some of them were pretty strange, like these alien-like looking drawings
Corynn enjoyed running around on the rocks, always keeping an eye out for another "drawing"

Once at the top we had a good view of several volcanoes in one direction...
and the Sandia mountain range on the other side of the city, in the other direction
Corynn was about asleep by the time we got to the top, but she managed to at least look towards the camera for a family picture
