Weekend Without Daddy

Even though the weather was cool this week - Oct. 17-23 - Corynn insisted that pants weren't necessary inside


But when we needed to go out, it was fun putting on the cute winter clothes that have been packed away for several months

We stayed busy this week...

Coloring so seriously


Watching both a Hesston High School and Bethel College volleyball game. Corynn just recently got her very own Hesston Swather Volleyball t-shirt and couldn't wait to wear it to the game so she could match the rest of the family!


Sleeping on mommy's lap - I don't think this has happened since she was a baby! She actually did take a short nap in her bed, then woke up crying and came to sit with me at my desk and fell back asleep.


Using her imagination! This backpack got a lot of use this week and was anything from a pack to carry baby Todd in, to a grocery bag, to a rocket sled - as seen here (this idea came from her Dora movie).

On Friday, Kevin left with his brother on a trip to Austin, TX for a half-Ironman distance race. I was not at all excited about another 9-hour trip (one-way) in the car, so I told him long ago that we would not be going with him. I think he probably preferred the company of his brother anyway.
So Corynn and I tried to keep ourselves busy without daddy, and thankfully aunt Eunice (who was also without a husband for the weekend) came and spent Saturday evening with us and stayed the night. Corynn let aunt Eunice sleep in her bed/room and she slept on her Elmo couch in mommy's room that night. She was very excited that Eunice was still at our house Sunday morning and had fun playing with her again before church.
Sunday after church we headed over to my parent's house for lunch, playing with papa and grandma, and even a nap!

Reading books and sleeping with grandpa (a Sunday afternoon nap with papa used to be nearly a weekly occurrence, but hasn't happened for quite some time since their toys became so much fun and there was no time for sleeping)

After her nap, it was time to head to Papa's Pumpkin Patch, once again, for a get-together with the young adults from church. It was a beautiful afternoon to be outside with friends and family!


Aunt Eunice hung out with us again and even rode the slide with Corynn


But Corynn also climbed up and went down the slide all by herself several other times!

And we even got some super-cute smiles on the bales! (Corynn is finally back in a phase where she will pose and smile nicely for me when I ask her to.)


And of course there was time to play in the corn again - with Sam, Sophia & aunt Eunice

Kevin arrived home around 1am Monday morning, having placed 3rd in his race, and having a great weekend away with his brother. We were glad to have him back home, but barely had a chance to miss him!
