Camp Mennoscah Church Retreat

For the past couple of weeks, Corynn has decided that sleeping on the floor in our room is more comfortable than in her very own bed. Almost every night, sometime between 1am and 4am, she'll come into our room, often with her puppy and a CD player, and flop down on the floor next to our bed and sleep there the rest of the night. Then, as was her previous routine, once Kevin has left for work or swimming, she'll often crawl into bed with me and sleep a few more hours.

This week she decided that even for her nap one day, the floor was more comfortable. She slept for about 30-45 minutes in her bed and then came crying into the living room and laid down on the floor and fell back asleep for another hour and a half!

Every night I encourage her to stay in her bed to sleep, but honestly she's not keeping us awake at night by wondering into our room, so at this point in our lives, there's really no real harm, right?! I'm just thankful she's not crawling into bed with us!

Corynn's favorite songs this week were "Hey Diddle Diddle" and "Johnny Appleseed" (which she just learned the second verse to). One day she sang "Hey Diddle Diddle" nonstop, sometimes nicely, sometimes very loud and silly, and other times with "doo doo doos" for the words! She loves to sing familiar tunes and make up new words to them. I can't believe the creative things she comes up with sometimes.

This weekend our church had a retreat at Camp Mennoscah so we packed up our camping gear and headed out to camp Saturday afternoon. The weather all weekend was cool, cloudy, and rainy, which made for pretty good camping weather (despite the fact that the rain kept me awake in our tent from 4-5am Sunday morning). This was Corynn's first time at Camp Mennoscah so we tried to show her all there was to see.

We enjoyed a wonderful weekend at camp with our church family, the Nickel family (who spent a lot of time with Corynn - THANK YOU ALL!), and the beautiful, yet sandy, outdoors!
