Tents, Twins, & Texas

Corynn was busy, busy building tents and houses this week - October 4-10! We have some big boxes in the basement (left over from when we purchased our carpet squares) and we got creative this week making those boxes into "houses" all over the basement. Then we'd sit inside and pretend it was raining outside, then knock the house down and build it again. Corynn has such a fun imagination already!

Tuesday night was Dig Pink night at the Hesston High School volleyball game - the team my brother Jason coaches - so Corynn and I dressed in pink (which wasn't difficult for her) and joined many others in support of breast cancer awareness that night. Unfortunately Corynn is not very interested in the games, so I don't get to watch much of the games either when she's along. Hesston did win both matches this night which was great!

Corynn figured out this week how to open up her toy box herself. This is great as we don't have to come help her with it, but it also means she can get out ALL the toys whenever SHE wants to. She also discovered some challenges with having this new ability:

Other discoveries this week included learning to distinguish and say "grandma/grandpa Peters" and "grandma/grandpa Nickel" and learning to blow her nose!

This weekend Kevin, his parents, and I took a quick trip to Rockwall, Texas (near Dallas) for Kevin's last triathlon of the season. Since we knew the trip would require 12+ hours in the car in two days, we decided to leave Corynn in Kansas with grandma & grandpa Peters. We figured she'd have a lot more fun with them anyway! Although I don't have any pictures, on Saturday they went to Fall Fest at Bethel, including the football game in the evening. On Sunday she went to church with them, visited great-grandma Peters in the afternoon, and ate at Pizza Hut for supper with some friends.

As far as our trip Texas, considering we were in Rockwall for only 24 hours, it was great - a close hotel to the start/finish line, an amazing race venue, lots of freebies at the expo, and a successful race! Kevin finally had a race where nothing major went wrong. He didn't feel completely recovered from his Branson race 3 weeks prior, but he still looked good and finished 9th overall (out of 1000+), even receiving a 2nd place award for his Elite Amateur wave finish.

We were, however, happy to be back home Sunday night and see our little girl once again!
