A Thing of the Past

Do you see what all these photos have in common?

If you said "pacifier" than you're correct! This week we said bye bye to the pacifier at our house! It was actually easier than I imagined, but we had a lot of late nights trying to get Corynn to go to sleep. Her paci was her symbol it was time for bed, so now we just had to verbally convince her to go to sleep. It felt like we had regressed a few months in sleeping habits with lots of rocking and holding, but we survived. On Saturday I finally threw away all of Corynn's pacifiers and by the weekend she was going to bed without any tears.

Corynn is saying new words every hour it seems like. This week a few of her new words included waffle, sauce, sausage, and TV. Additionally, she started saying "shoo bee" whenever a bug crawls or flies near her. AND Corynn said her first 3-word sentence this week too: "Mommy, more drink!" It seems like it will only be a matter of days til she's speaking sentences regularly.

In addition to the ever-increasing vocabulary, Corynn started requesting kisses for her boo-boos. Now when she runs into something or drops something on her foot, she'll whine or cry for a bit and then make a kissing sound and come running to me pointing to where it hurts. As soon as I kiss her, the pain and tears are gone! In her opinions, kisses are far better than band-aides or an ice pack.

Enjoy a few more photos from our week - July 5-11:

Playing in the cooler - why not!

Corynn had a lot of fun playing in this box this week. We even colored on it, including a window and welcome sign - coloring is a new favorite thing of Corynn's this week too.

On Friday we went to Koch Arena to watch the USA men's volleyball team take on Russia. It was awesome and Corynn even stayed somewhat entertained throughout the evening, but wasn't a big fan of the substitution and timeout buzzers. (Thank goodness grandpa and grandma Peters came too and helped keep Corynn contained.)

A little glimpse of the volleyball action (the USA team is in red)

On Sunday we went to Lake Afton for another triathlon. Once again Corynn's amazing daddy WON the Olympic distance race.

Plugging her ears while they shot the gun to start the race

Playing in the dirt with Sam during the race

Posing with our winner after the race (Corynn was wearing one of Kevin's past jerseys as a dress). I think we could be in an advertisement for Pinnacle Sports Performance!

Playing by the trees after the race. She kept running up the trees and giving me this "senior picture" pose. It was so cute!
