"Bye bye" & "Night night"

Everything this week was going "bye bye." If it disappeared, it went "bye bye;" if we ate it, it went "bye bye;" it didn't matter what was happening, something was always being told "bye bye." But the cutest part was that Corynn would say "bye bye be be" almost every time, and I'm still not sure what the "be be" meant, but it really was too cute!

Several times this week she also told me "night night" when she was ready to go to bed in the evening or take a nap. It's so fun to hear her talking more and more each day!

And speaking of sleep, Corynn has been sleeping through the nights consistently for months now - which is so wonderful! We have also transitioned into taking only one nap each day, shortly after lunch. She only sleeps for an hour and a half to two hours, but that seems to be enough rest to get her through the day. It's not uncommon now for her to be ready for bed by 7:30 or 8pm; and she'll sleep till 8:15 or 8:30am the next morning, once this week even sleeping in till 9:15!

She's starting to use a fork to eat more and more. I have to put the food on the fork for her, but she'll use the fork to get the food to her mouth. Most of the time she starts with the fork and decides it's too much work and goes back to just using her fingers!

I discovered this week how good Corynn is getting at stacking and putting objects into small openings. She got a wooden stacking toy for her birthday and has figured out how to get the wooden rings on the tiny peg. Her grandmas and I are always amazed when we see her accomplish this, even though she'll only put 2 or 3 rings on before she tips it over to start again.

Parents-as-teachers also brought Corynn a new "toy" in January when they came to visit. It's a half gallon plastic juice bottle with 3 old-style wooden clothes pins in it. Corynn loves taking off the lid to the bottle and dumping out the clothes pins, but it took a long time before she could put them back in the bottle. Finally this week, she found the patience and dexterity to do it!

Corynn and Kevin have come to several of my rec volleyball games on Tuesday nights over the past few weeks, and Corynn has learned how to "spike" thanks to her grandparents and my aunt Norma who have also been spectators at the games recently. She'll walk around the house now waving her arms in a downward motion and just smiling! If we ask her to "spike" she thinks that's even more fun!

My dad's sister Norma was visiting all week from Ohio and our whole family was able to get together Saturday night for supper. Here Corynn is posing with great-aunt Norma and great-grandma.
